Kids Natural Makeup Ideas
It may be your child’s birthday party, her recital, a slumber party, or maybe you’re getting her ready for a school or family photography session and you’re curious about finding information for kids natural makeup ideas.
Professional makeup artist and educator, Lisa Sim, is answering all of your questions by showing you a beautiful, step-by-step tutorial on how to apply a little makeup to a child and highlight their naturally beautiful girl-like features while still looking like a beautiful young child.
Personally, I love that Lisa styles children professionally for magazines and other publications, and is consciences about the type of products that parents should be watching for and avoiding when selecting the right kind of products to apply to a child’s skin.
She mentioned avoiding products that contain
- artificial colors
and other known toxic and carcinogenic-causing ingredients that are often found in most cosmetics for adults.
I think this is an excellent point to be especially picky when applying makeup products to a child’s skin.
But why should our guard stop there? Shouldn’t we be protecting what passes through to our bloodstreams too, as adults? You can learn more about Lisa here and here.
Skin, Our Largest Organ
Because the skin is essentially the largest organ that we have, absolutely everything that is applied to your skin passes through all of the layers of the skin and goes directly into your blood.

With this in mind, I like to be extremely picky when buying products for myself or my children.
Among other things, Lisa mentions to look for makeup products that don’t contain fillers, binders, parbens, and other toxic ingredients for your body.
After a search online, I’ve come up with several options that you may want to look at for yourself and see if you agree with the list of ingredients before purchasing anything for your child or yourself.

Also, a company called Kooalo claims that their all natural, organic kids makeup set does not contain any of the following harmful chemicals. I encourage you to do your own research on anything you’re considering putting onto your own or your child’s skin, but this company says their products contain
- No micronized minerals
- No coated minerals
- No preservatives
- No talc
- No bismuth oxychloride (causes itching, breakouts and redness)
- No synthetic dyes
- No parabens
- No carmine
- No fragrances
- No PetroChemicals
- Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
- No animal testing

In addition, if you’re on a hunt for natural blush, eye shadow and lip shimmers. Then Klee Kids might be something worth looking into. They claim that their products are formulated with natural minerals and other wholesome non-toxic ingredients. In addition, they also say that they make their makeup kits for kids to contain
- No talc
- No artificial dyes
- No parabens
- No petrochemicals

Sometimes it’s fun to include a little face shimmer for either a dance recital, a birthday party, a special occasion or holiday, or even just for fun. A company called Piggy Paint claims to make toxic-free face shimmer, lip gloss and even nail polish for kids. They say this kit contains
- No petrochemicals
- No parabens
- No harsh chemicals
Non-Toxic, Water-Based Nail Polish

Another company worth taking a closer look at is Emosa. Claims they make are that they’re producing a non-toxic, water based nail polish that contains
- No formaldehyde
- No toluene
- No DBP chemicals
and can be removed without any nail polish remover at all! They claim that if you simply soak your child’s nails in warm water for 1 – 2 minutes,
you can peel simply peel off their nail polish from one corner of each finger that begins to lifts up.

And finally, a company called Airdom claims that it doesn’t contain any toxic chemicals, is water-based and can peel off by soaking in warm water for a few minutes. But if it’s glittery silver that your child wishes she could wear, then great news! They include it in one of their sets as well!
